A Bridge Too Low in China

The bridge was built over the Yong river in Nanning City but pedestrians using the riverside walkway have been left with just 4ft 3ins when they pass underneath. Angry pedestrians are fuming with traffic planners in southern China after they built a flyover so low they have to duck to walk under it.

'If it was any lower it would be an underpass,' said one protester. 'I've seen lots of people nearly knock themselves out on it because they're not used to it,' he added.

But incredibly town hall officials have refused to apologise. A spokesman said: 'The new bridge is an essential river crossing. If pedestrians don't like it they can walk somewhere else.
