The three-year-old bulldog Bella Mae was sniffing round a backyard pond with two other dogs when she spooked the thorny creature, that came to drink some water from the pond at the backyard of her owners' house.
The porcupine spiked all three animals, but Bella Mae took the brunt of the attack, according to owners Jerry and Allison Noles. The poor pooch was rushed to the Animal Emergency Center in Norman, Oklahoma, where a doctor and two nurses spent two hour plucking more than 500 quills from her face, mouth and feet.
