Beach goers were met with more than the usual ammonites – encountering instead a colossal dragon skull. The giant head appeared to have been washed up on Charmouth beach on the Jurassic Coast, which is known for its historic finds and is a mecca for fossil hunters.
The skull was the work of a team of sculptors and was installed to celebrate the launch of the third series of Game Of Thrones on TV and movie-streaming service Blinkbox.
The 40ft-long model took around two months to design, build and finish. It was inspired by a notable scene from the series in which character Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) discovers a dragon skull in the dungeons of King's Landing, the capital of the Seven Kingdoms.
